Beatbox Installation FAQ

Wondering what it takes to install the Beatbox in your van? Start here.

Beatbox Blackbird kit

Anyone can purchase the Beatbox Blackbird stereo kit from our online store. Before doing so, please review the guides below to make sure the stereo will fit in your van and will meet your needs.

Will the Beatbox Blackbird fit in my van?

The Beatbox will fit Sprinter cargo vans that have OEM seat swivels, the 10" radio, and nothing under the passenger seat base. Review this guide for information about the specific Sprinter features we use for the installation to determine, what, if anything, will need to be modified during the installation.

If anything about your van is different and requires modification or changes to our installation instructions, you or your installer will need to account for those variables. RoamRig cannot assist with installation modifications due to the enormous variety of Sprinter van setups and customizations.

Bluetooth Receiver and/or House Power

Out of the box, the Beatbox Blackbird uses audio from the Mercedes stereo and is powered by the chassis battery. The Blackbird also has the infrastructure in place to add more speakers and an additional audio input, which you can add during or after installation. Read this guide to learn about the features and how to add them.

  • Remember, if you are powering the stereo from the house batteries, then you will need to add an additional audio input source (such as a Bluetooth receiver). Otherwise, the engine will need to be keyed on in order for audio inputs to work via MBUX, in which case the stereo can be powered by the chassis battery.
  • Similarly, if you would like to add a Bluetooth receiver, remember that the stereo will not work unless it has power. So, you'll need to add a way to power the stereo from a source other than the chassis battery if you want to listen to music via a Bluetooth receiver while the engine is off.

Adding these features increases the time and complexity of the installation. Since every van is different and there are many possible ways to add more speakers and/or a Bluetooth receiver, RoamRig cannot offer specific advice for individual installations.
